Face - Mixed Media Canvas - Tutorial

Hey Friends,

Today I am here to share a step by step tutorial of a beautiful mixed media canvas. I hope u all like it. It was inspired from a canvas I had seen long ago n I always wanted to try it out.

First take a 8 x 8 canvas. I primed it with camel gesso. Let it dry completely. Then I chose the elements I wanted do use on the canvas. I played with the elements till I was happy with the arrangement. Then i just took a picture of the arrangement so that while placing it again I can refer to the picture. I added zigzag texture with stencil using texture paste. Let it dry thoroughly.

After the texture is completely dry I started pacing the elements on to the canvas. I used mdf clock dial big and small, mdf flourish,  resin face, art stones, alcohol ink spray, mulberry paper flowers, some paper string for my compilation.

Once everything was placed n stuck I brushed every element with a coat of gesso. I didn't bother too much with the blue flowers as I was planning to color my canvas in turquoise. After the gesso application the canvas will look like this.

Let the whole compilation dry thoroughly. You can speed up the drying process using heat tool.
then I started spraying the whole canvas with turquoise alcohol splash. Diluted the intensity of the color by spraying water where I wanted it light. After I was happy with the way my canvas looked I dried it with heat tool. Lastly I dry brushed gesso  over the flowers, textures, art stones to bring out the textures.

This is how your mixed media canvas will look after its done.

I hope you all like this and find it inspiring just the way I was inspired....

Thanks for stopping by !!!

Follow your dreams - mixed media panel

Hey Friends,
I love steampunk style mixed media . Its raw, grungy and very very manly. so today I present to u a beautiful panel with fresh colors not the usual browns which we mostly use for the steampunk.
No automatic alt text available.

For this panel I used hardboard n started adhering laces for textures. I love this broad lace and also the lovely texture it gave. I used this one as it didn't have any flowers or flourishes..... then i started arranging steampunk gears, some nails, screws, nut bolts, which added more to the steampunk style.  Then started adding browns for the edges going to greens to yellow in shades. I absolutely love the way it has turned out though I spent hours coloring it till I was satisfied. Added the sentiment follow your dreams as without sentiment I felt something is missing.

you mean the world to me - Mixed media panel

Hey friends,
Today I m here to present you with this gorgeous panel I made for my cousin. She wanted to gift something simple with a picture of both of them for her hubby's 50th birthday. she also wanted browns in the layout as it will match the decor of her home too.
Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling

For this gorgeous layout I didn't use any pattern paper. I made my own pattern paper!! I used 270 GSM iris paper . I used library green and leaf green archival inks for the edges n blended them together till I was happy with the result. then i used distress oxides on top of the green n sprinkled it with some water droplets so the oxides will react. I used script stamp n stamped it with green archival ink. added layers of photo mats n distressed the edges with scissors n distressed it with brown ink. added the window frame n added some die cuts, handmade heartfelt creations flowers and leaves for the whole layout. added a beautiful note which my cousin wrote for her hubby.

Hope you all get inspired with  this layout an love it as much as I do.

Back to earth - Name panel

Hey Freinds,

Today I m here to present a commissioned work which I made for a client who just got a new home . She told me to make something very unique . After loads of brain storming I came up with this idea of a name panel which she instantly liked.

Image may contain: text

For this beautiful name panel I used a 10 X 16 hardboard I added heavy card stock on the hardboard as i wanted to paint it to make it look very very raw n natural. I started adhering the twigs after cutting them to the required size. after layering the twigs in a way that looked natural i added stones on to the twigs at the base. once i was happy with the placement i started painting the twigs at the bottom with brown n also added darker tones at the top in wood grain look. added solawood flowers from my stash here n there . Lastly added the last name of the client in MDF cutout which was painted in antique gold color.
I framed this piece in a box with an antique gold frame

Greens - Mixed Media Home decor panel

Hey Friends,

Today I m here to present to you a beautiful home decor mixed media panel. I m totally in love with it and I feel accomplished by creating it as this panel proves that you don't need expensive craft materials to make something unique.

Image may contain: plant

I started with a left over hardboard. I used tissues, gesso n modelling paste to give the textures in the background. I used some left over chipboard to make the faux bricks. I made around 60 bricks. I played around till I was happy with the placement of the bricks. colored the whole panel n shades of browns giving darker color arund the bricks for the shadow effect. Made space for a bottle n to give it vintage look I tied jute strings around the top n stuck it to the panel. now to give a more natural look to the whole piece I added some moss to the bricks and my beautiful home decor panel was ready. i added water to the bottle n added a real plant for the finished look.

Hope this post inspires you !!!!

For this Beautiful mixed media panel I hv used beautiful pattern paper From floral collection which I had in my stash from along time. I applied gesso to the wooden panel and while it was wet I tore some papers in floral n leaf prints n adhered it on the panel. then I did some stenciling in the center top n bottom part just to add little interest n sprinkled it with some shimmer. added brown spray to the left n little green on top where i had done stenciling.  Used paper pieces from old book which adds little touch of vintage here and there. made the dress out of a pink floral paper which i thought goes very well with my background added a delicate floral lace to the hem . Added beautiful word, and corner in mdf  n some distressed wooden butterflies n wall die cut on the left side to complete my piece.

Grateful - Mixed Media Panel

Hey friends !!!!

Today I am here to present another interesting  Mixed media panel which is super close to my heart.

No automatic alt text available.

As an artist I never throw my brushes.... I don't know why but I feel they have helped me create wonders so once they go bad n are no more useful I still don't feel like throwing them or discarding them.... I have some kind of bonding with them so here I made this compilation using couple of my old brushes.... Had made this couple of months ago.......I m in love with this beautiful piece n would love to hear what u all think about it . I Have named this canvas GRATEFUL if u look at it closely u will be able to find that word in it.

For this beautiful mixed media panel I Have used card stocks, corrugated sheets n laces for the background layers.....  For embellishments  have used wooden, metal n few resin ones too.... apart from that string, rings n pearls . To get this gradation I covered the whole piece in white gesso after all the embellishments were adhered. then left the left hand side part in white i started coloring the center part in turquoise n let it mix with gesso for shaded effect. then from right side i started painting it in dark brown again bringing it to blue in brown shades. i totally love the way this has turned out.

Hope this post inspires you !!! would love to see your creations .

For this I have used laces, wooden embellishments, metal embellishments, twigs, strings, glass cabochons, artstones and pearls which I have put in the window . The dress is made of a card stock which I colored in pattern n the flowing skirt of the dress is made in different laces which i had in my stash. i was totally in mood to try a different color combo that's why i chose turquoise n purple for the dresses n flowers n for the background I used greens n browns which are the perfect colors of nature.

Mixed media layout in pinks n browns.

Beautiful weather outside !!! And I have created a gorgeous layout in pinks n browns.
I have used a pattern paper from my stash . First of all I gave texture to the background by using dot stencil randomly. After that i adhered the MDF lazer cutout to the page and adhered a lovely picture of a sweet ballerina which will be my focal point. gave the opposite corners a distressed look by distressed oxides. added prima art stones around the circle MDF n sprayed it with mauve colored spray. Finally I embellished the whole layout with solawood flowers, fussy cut butterflies,  from my stash added few dried fillers for the extra interest.

Hope u love this gorgeous layout. Would love to see your creations if u get inspired by this layout.
