Royal Wedding Card - My DT post for Nakshathra Designz for the month of April

Hello Friends,
Today I m here to present you with an amazingly simply yet beautiful and elegant wedding card. The day I got my DT kit and saw these papers they looked very traditional and royal.... so the project that came in my head was a wedding card.... most of us Indians prefer a very royal and traditional wedding cards... so here is my take on a super simple wedding card which is very easy to make with these beautiful Nakshathra Desingz decoupage papers.

This is the step by step tutorial :-

These are the three papers used to make this card.

I chose the last print for my card background. I cut the paper little smaller than the card size and adhered it on the front and also the back of the card, The size of the card is 6x9 inch.  After adhering the paper with decoupage glue I let it dry completely. Then I Cut motifs from the first two papers.... One male motif and one female motif and adhered it on to a photo mat for which I used 300 gsm
off-white card stock.

It should look something like this. I had a little wooden frame in my stash which I used to frame the laser cutout where its written Puja weds Rahul

I distressed the edges of the card with gold acrylic paint to give it a royal touch . Also did the distressing on the motifs and painted the wooden frame with the gold acrylic.

Then I did  stenciling with gold acrylic on the background paper with a stencil that matched the motifs on the background paper on the right hand side top corner and left hand side bottom corner... It all fell together very well.

Then I played around with the placement and felt this is perfect . And to add little more interest to the project I gave a little raised look with foam tape to the motifs. placed the wooden frame in the center and bingo !!! The lovely Rajasthani style wedding card is ready.

I enjoyed making this one.... I hope you all like it and find it inspirational. Would love to see your creations too!!

Face - Mixed Media Canvas - Tutorial

Hey Friends,

Today I am here to share a step by step tutorial of a beautiful mixed media canvas. I hope u all like it. It was inspired from a canvas I had seen long ago n I always wanted to try it out.

First take a 8 x 8 canvas. I primed it with camel gesso. Let it dry completely. Then I chose the elements I wanted do use on the canvas. I played with the elements till I was happy with the arrangement. Then i just took a picture of the arrangement so that while placing it again I can refer to the picture. I added zigzag texture with stencil using texture paste. Let it dry thoroughly.

After the texture is completely dry I started pacing the elements on to the canvas. I used mdf clock dial big and small, mdf flourish,  resin face, art stones, alcohol ink spray, mulberry paper flowers, some paper string for my compilation.

Once everything was placed n stuck I brushed every element with a coat of gesso. I didn't bother too much with the blue flowers as I was planning to color my canvas in turquoise. After the gesso application the canvas will look like this.

Let the whole compilation dry thoroughly. You can speed up the drying process using heat tool.
then I started spraying the whole canvas with turquoise alcohol splash. Diluted the intensity of the color by spraying water where I wanted it light. After I was happy with the way my canvas looked I dried it with heat tool. Lastly I dry brushed gesso  over the flowers, textures, art stones to bring out the textures.

This is how your mixed media canvas will look after its done.

I hope you all like this and find it inspiring just the way I was inspired....

Thanks for stopping by !!!
